What is Ceramic Quilting?
Ceramic quilting is using the concepts of traditional quilting design and applying them to
ceramics.
Based on grids and templates the whole process is both unique as it is easy to do.
The ceramic quilting concept is an extension of the Art Therapy Interactment.
Two types of universal grid layouts are used.
                     1. based on 150mm x 150mm square wall or floor tiles and
                     2. a circular pattern on a 475mm diameter surface.
also an adaption of a standard grid on a sushi plate or similar surface.
Grid lines are based on a 25mm spacing in a horizontal and vertical direction and are therefor
adaptable to any size surface.
This spacing has been worked out to achieve the optimum results for pattern design and
glazing

ceramic quilt grids
When designing a ceramic tile quilt
the gap between the tiles known as a
grout line must be taken into
consideration in the design layout of
the pattern.
( thick lines represent
the gap/grout lines between  tiles)
In
this universal example  layout of a 24
150mm x 150mm tile ceramic quilt
the pattern extends over 4 partial tiles
at each end.
