apply 2 -3 coats of black base glaze
EB01 to all surfaces allowing to dry
between coats
apply 1 coat of reactant 1 to the top
surface of the sushi plate, the inside
of the rice bowl and the figurine.
now you have 3 choices before
applying 2-3 coats of overcolour
(i) apply over colour when reactant is
still wet
(sushi plate)
(ii) apply overcolour when reactant is
medium dry
(figurine)
(iii) apply overcolour when reactant
completely dry
(rice bowl)
Each of  the above situations will
produce 3 different effects from
violent to mild
the hake brush needs to be well
loaded with overcolour and use
gentle light movements when
covering reactant. EXPERIMENT!!!!
apply 2-3 coats of black base glaze
EB01 to all surfaces allowing to dry
between coats
apply  2 coats of finishing glaze, then
fire for an outstanding finish

this finish is very suitable for the
underneath surfaces of any piece of
ceramics and gives a very
sophisticated looking glaze

the rice bowl has 2 coats of black
textured glaze EB11 applied to the
inside only
when dry apply 2 coats of
reactant-release ER02 allow to dry
between coats then apply 2 coats of
overcolour allowing to dry between
coats then fire
apply 2 coats of finishing glaze and
re-fire

1. The glazes come in wide mouth containers that allows for ease of stirring. The base glazes and finishing
glaze especially will settle to the bottom of the container and therefore need to be stirred. This is the nature
of the glaze. Remember to stir the over colour glazes as well.
2. Do not thin glazes as this will affect their performance.
3. Base glazes go on the bottom overcolour glazes and finishing glaze over the top. A reversal of this process
will not work or produce the desired results.
4. Base glazes can be mixed together to produce differing shades likewise overcolour glazes can as well.
But do not mix the base glazes or finishing glaze with the overcolour glazes.
5. All the glazes are glazes in their own right and can be used as stand alone products.
6. Application of the glazes is very simple, but you must load the brush up using 2-3 flowing coats to achieve
the best results on a mature 03/04 bisque.
7. Always use a Hake brush as this will ensure even flowing coats are applied.
THE FOLLOWING WILL AFFECT YOUR GLAZE OUTCOMES
1. The type of clay that you use and even different manufacturers of similar clay types
e.g different white clay bodies or terracotta bodies.
2. The maturity of the bisque. It needs to be properly fired, the harder the body the better the result.
3. Temperature and firing time. I fire to 1100 deg and soak and on occasions even fire down on large
pieces. You can alter the finish by different firing techniques.
