Presidents Welcome    April 2014

Welcome players & parents, old and new, to the 40th season at Castlemaine Goldfields FC.
What a fantastic year it shapes up to be with new directions for our players, a World Cup to
savour this winter in Brazil, a new partnership with men’s team sponsors Coffee Basics, and
club celebrations to look forward to throughout the season. It has already been an exciting start
to the year, the first ball has been kicked, and there is much more to come.

2014 marks an anniversary year of significant change for CGFC.

The senior teams forge new pathways, the men playing in the Ballarat League (BDSA) for the
first time, and the senior women playing in State League 4 (Metro) in Melbourne. These teams
will face new opponents across the pitch with a chance to develop new rivalries.

Our seven junior teams this year renew our 40th year of competition in the Bendigo League
(BASL) representing the club from U10’s to U16’s.

The club’s future, the ’Mini-Roos’ (5-9’s) will also be training at Chewton for the first time in
many years.

The first season of the National Premier League (NPL) has also begun in Victoria with at least
19 current & previous Castlemaine players represented in the new club FC Bendigo & in
Melbourne, from the U12’s all the way up to the senior men’s team, all now with a path into the
A-League and beyond …

All this serves to highlight the opportunities that exist playing within our small grassroots club,
AND how far we have spread ourselves in a single year !

We also welcome a fresh committee with many new & old faces, and new volunteers looking to
once again serve the local football community and continue the fine tradition of CGFC into the
next 40 years ! I would like to personally thank you for all your efforts in advance.

Have fun, best of luck on the pitch & I’ll see you around the club.

Regards,     Ian Flavell
